Student-Grown Flowers for Sale at Three Marshall County Schools

Students at Cameron High School, John Marshall High School and Moundsville Middle School and are preparing to sell hanging baskets, vegetable plants, herbs and a variety of flowers they grew in their school’s greenhouse.

At each school in late January students began germinating seeds for tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, lettuce, cabbage and herbs. Then at the end of February plugs were purchased and transplanted for various types of other flowers. Students ensured the proper temperature and humidity were maintained in their greenhouse and monitored the vegetation’s growth daily.

Moundsville Middle School FFA students began selling their inventory last Saturday. The hours of operation are every school day from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm.
