The 12th annual Marshall County Schools Social Studies Fair took place on Friday at Cameron High School.

Students in third through eighth grade from Cameron Elementary, Center McMechen Elementary, Glen Dale Elementary, Hilltop Elementary, Sand Hill Elementary, Sherrard Middle School and Cameron High School competed in two divisions, each featuring nine different categories.

There were 71 project entries, with nearly 105 students participating. While an overall winner isn’t named, nine students earned a perfect score from the judges. Those students include Ella Allender, Trace Hunter and Gavin Pickett in Division I (elementary school) and Ella Finley, Addy Gast, Sarah Hess, Chloe Pickett, Kyla Stricklin and Zoe Zervos in Division II (middle school).

Individual winners and group winners in each category will compete against students from Hancock, Brooke, Ohio and Wetzel counties during the Regional Social Studies Fair at Grand Vue Park on Friday, March 24, 2023.

Regional winners from all over the state will go head-to-head at the West Virginia State Social Studies Fair on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
