Press play on the past at the annual Marshall County Strings Program benefit concert, Retro Rewind, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 6:30 pm, at the John Marshall High School Center for Performing Arts.
Relive the sounds that defined generations with iconic music from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. This high-energy program will feature classic Motown, rock and pop artists including The Temptations, Led Zeppelin and Billy Joel.
Whether you grew up listening to vinyl records or cassette tapes, Retro Rewind promises to connect generations with something for everyone. This throwback performance not only guarantees to be a night of entertainment but also aims to make a positive impact as donations collected will benefit the Marshall County Strings Program Scholarship and Marshall County Childhood Cancer Awareness Group.
The Marshall County Childhood Cancer Awareness Group was formed in 2016, one year after the death of John Marshall High School student Abby Frohnapfel. Its mission is to raise awareness of the lack of funding for childhood-specific cancer research. In collaboration with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a leader in funding pediatric cancer research projects across the globe, MCCCA has assisted in providing almost a quarter of a million dollars in valuable research.
In addition, the group aids local cancer families as needed. Unfortunately, since 2016, two additional JMHS students have lost their lives to childhood cancer - Cohen Pyles, in 2023, and Hannah Woods, in 2024. Hannah was a student in the Marshall County Strings Program and would be a senior this year.
